RNA viruses replicate in the cytosol of the host cell. In order to avoid recognition by the host, replication takes place in cellular membrane-derived replication compartments. Reovirus has developed a different strategy by hijacking the cellular microtubule network to organize and coordinate its replication and assembly. We are investigating the molecular basis of this novel repliaction strategy.
